Saving by scanning: #QRCodes in the East End


Businesses in Rochester’s East End are turning to an up-and-coming technology to help cater to their tech-savvy customers — even offering them exclusive deals.

QR Codes are popping up on storefronts all around downtown. A local marketing company designed the codes for the East End Marketing Committee.

According to the marketing firm that designed the QR Codes for the East End businesses, they’re the only ones in the greater Rochester area doing something like this.

Not only does it connect a smart phone user to information on all the businesses in the area — it also gives them special offers they can’t find anywhere else.

“It gets people to start scanning — that’s the idea.” As the president of a Rochester marketing firm, innovation is in Michael Philipson’s DNA. “We like to be really out there with new, emerging methods of engagement with clients and consumers, because these days you have to be available on many channels to people.”
